Atmospheric Plasma Spray Systems - APS
What is Atmospheric Plasma Spraying, APS, all about?
About the process
Atmospheric plasma spray is a versatile thermal spray process designed for high quality coatings, reliability and durability.
Plasmatron, Arc & Plasma Stream: Process Procedure
In the plasmatron, a DC voltage is used to generate an electrical arc between an anode and a cathode. The plasma gas respectively the plasma gas mixture is flowing through the plasmatron is guided through the arc and ionized in the process. Powder is injected into the generated supersonic plasma jet, and is melted by the high plasma temperature. The plasma jet entrains the powder particles and catapults them onto the substrate. A coating is build up.
