Twenty years ago, Medicoat founded Medicoat France, headquartered in Delle, primarily to participate fully in European trade through a subsidiary in France.
After successfully establishing itself in the field of powder manufacturing, Medicoat France relocated to Etupes in the summer of 2017, where Medicoat SAS is also based.
Twenty successful years in powder production and a positive outlook on the future – Francis Tourenne and his team are delighted with a 3D-printed sculpture presented as an anniversary gift.
How It All Began:
In 1997 Medicoat fount its expert in thermal spraying in Dr. Francis Tourenne. At the time, he was working at the Technical University of Sévenans and subsequently took the lead in Medicoat’s activities in France. He was supported by his wife Lydia, his son Pierre, and Pierre’s wife Margaret.
Francis Tourenne has long been closely involved with biomaterials. During his time as a research and development engineer at Bioland, he was responsible for the HA coating and of course, for the powder itself. Under his leadership, a new Medicoat powder production facility was established in Delle, building on an advanced HA production process.
In 2017, powder production moved to new and modern premises in Etupes. That same year, more than five tons were produced, with volumes continuing to rise. Newly developed powders are used, for example, for implant grinding applications. All products are manufactured to the highest quality standards and are controlled in accordance with ISO 13485.
